A photographer is being sought for a year-long residency with a Manx conservation charity.
It was a “great way to showcase the wonderful wildlife that we have on the Isle of Man” and was hoped to attract visitors as well as raise awareness to the community about “how special” the island’s nature was, he added.’Engage with nature’The photographer, who would work with the charity for 25 days, would be paid £6,000 to cover living costs as well as an £8,000 budget for equipment.Mr Makepeace-Warne said the initiative followed the success of the charity’s artist in residence initiative, which is in its third year.”We know we have some really good photographers on the island, both professional and amateur”, he said, adding it seemed like a “great opportunity” for the charity to offer a residency.Another part of the role would be to encourage the public to “do some photography of their own” which would be a “great way to get out into nature and engage with it”.Applications for the role are open until 26 January, and it was hoped that “people come with their own ideas” for the residency to help the role evolve”, Mr Makepeace-Warne said.
